This workshop will begin with a guided nature walk along the old railway trail followed by a creative writing session that will invite participants to explore their relationship to the natural world through a series of creative exercises and prompts. We will be making photos with our phones during the walk based on a series of prompts from Jaime Woytiuk. Back at the Centre, an edited selection will be printed. Working in conjunction with the images,
Ash Kilback will ask participants to work through a written text together with their images; using perspectives, emotions, and composition using creative exercises. Asking questions such as how do you represent things you hear, feel or remember? Discussion will centre around issues of representation, transformation, self-reflexive and empowering visual acts.
Ash Kilback is a poet, spoken word artist, and workshop facilitator. Her poetry explores themes relating to nature, grief, spirituality, and the mystery of being alive. She also writes on The Art of Paying Attention, a zen-inspired practice of slowing down and living in the present moment. Jaime Woytiuk is a Buena Vista based documentary photographer and multimedia artist. Woytiuk is an Associate with Photographers Without Borders, an organization that supports and educates storytelling geared towards ethical, global narratives by way of granting, teaching, and capacity-building programs.

Adriana Hackl lives in Buena Vista and has enjoyed teaching locally for the last twelve years. She has been teaching yoga for over twenty five years, with certifications in Hatha, Iyengar, and Restorative Yoga. Adriana has three decades of teaching and coaching fitness with certifications in Personal Training, Strength & Conditioning, Aquafit, and Nutrition.
